Head of Engineering (hands-on)

to lead and scale the technical function at a fast-growing proptech company that’s transforming real estate investment. The platform simplifies complex financial modelling, instantly analysing property data and transactions worth billions - already trusted by leading investors across the UK and EU, with US expansion on the horizon.Backed by top-tier VCs, the team is entering a rapid growth phase, expanding its product and engineering organisation to deliver the next generation of tools for the sector.The Role

As Head of Engineering, you’ll set the technical vision, grow and mentor the engineering team, and work closely with product and data leadership to ship high-impact features. You’ll stay hands-on with architecture and scaling decisions while building the processes, culture, and structure for a high-performing organisation.What you’ll do:

Own and drive the technical strategy, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.Partner with product and design leaders to align technical and business goals.Oversee architectural decisions, data pipelines, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.Establish best practices across code quality, testing, CI/CD, and monitoring.Shape the culture of a high-growth engineering org, balancing delivery with technical excellence.What we’re looking for:

Proven track record of scaling teams and systems in high-growth environments.Strong technical background in Python, cloud platforms, and a bonus for modern frontend frameworks (React or similar).Deep experience with system architecture, databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL), and scalable API design.Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.Details
