OverviewWe are looking for a talented and dedicated Technical Lead to help us build out a world-beating feature set. As Technical Lead you’ll be responsible for developing new features and services to help us continue to deliver a great product to our customers that helps our company and their money grow. In this role, you should be an excellent communicator who is able to translate complex requirements into functional architecture. We’d also like you to have hands-on experience on software development and be able to manage and understand our microservice architecture and more importantly embrace our engineering values.

What you can expect to be doing

Understand and own project architecture decisions within their team domain.

Act as the point of reference for technical decisions in the team.

Prepare and present Technical Reviews on any major new projects to Architecture Steerco.

Responsible for delivery plan and estimations on project progress for stakeholders

Work with Engineering Manager to plan sprints, based on team capacity and project estimations

Collaborate with other Technical Leads as well as Staff and Principal Engineers to define and implement changes at Chip that elevate our engineering excellence.

Mentoring and coaching team on imposing coding standards and good architecture

Able to investigate and diagnose production issues, and advise possible solutions in a pragmatic manner

Design and build non-trivial features involving multiple services and data sources.

Contributes to group standards, impactful in improving our processes.

Proactively improves performance issues, code structure and error handling, including logging, alerting and monitoring

Handling complex changes to third-party dependencies.

Understanding of the whole tech stack including CI/CD and production environments

What we’re looking for

Proven experience as technical lead of a high performance engineering team

Strong communicator who can lead technical discussions at all levels and able to explain a complex technical issue to someone non-technical

Programming language experience in PHP with an interest to learn GO

Experience with a PHP framework such as Laravel or Symfony

Strong understanding of design patterns (bus, repository, decorator, etc)

Strong understanding of mutable vs immutable databases

Experience with manipulating data structures and performing performance audits of codebase and database.

Development locally with Containers (Docker) through to production.

Strong understanding of branching strategies and where best to use them.

An understanding of Microservice architecture and how to develop microservices.

Team player who will be committed to the cause, can be flexible, reliable and responsible, active listener, will keep your team informed and is always at hand to support and respect others

A role model who can represent and promote Chip within the wider community

Monday to Thursday:

9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Friday:

8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Start your weekend early!)
