Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 7 Sonographer to join our dynamic ultrasound team within the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC). The successful candidate will be responsible for independently performing a wide range of general medical ultrasound examinations and contributing to high-quality diagnostic services.

This is a full-time position, requiring flexibility and a commitment to delivering excellent patient care in line with NHS standards. Previous NHS experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform and report on a variety of general medical ultrasound scans including:

    • Abdominal

    • Gynaecological

    • Testicular

    • Soft tissue

    • Groin

  • Ensure high standards of clinical practice in line with national guidelines and Trust protocols.

  • Accurately document and communicate findings using the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).

  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team within the CDC and other Trust departments.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advancements in ultrasound technology and procedures.

  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and peer review processes.

  • Assist in training and mentoring junior staff and students as required.

Essential Requirements:

  • Postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound (PGCert/PGDip/MSc or equivalent).

  • NHS experience in a Sonographer role.

  • Competence in a wide range of general ultrasound examinations (as listed above).

  • Current HCPC registration-

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage own workload.

  • Commitment to providing patient-centred care and maintaining confidentiality.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in or transitioning to a Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) environment.

  • Knowledge of quality assurance and audit practices in ultrasound..

Work Hours/Location:

  • Full-time hours, typically Monday to Friday with occasional weekend cover if required.

  • Based at the Community Diagnostic Centre, with potential for cross-site working depending on service needs.
