The Trustees are looking to recruit to the post of Head of School, Springboard Project, L15 – L19, £73,105 - £80,655 per annum. Full time (based on STPCD). Commencing 1st January 2026 (or sooner if possible).Part of the New Bridge Multi Academy Trust, The Springboard Project is based in Oldham town centre and provides high quality, innovative alternative educational experiences for pupils and students with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) difficulties across the 14-19 age range.Here at Project, we believe passionately in supporting our students to achieve their very best outcomes and overcome their barriers to learning. Our aim is to meet the needs of our young people where they are, supporting them to gain the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to go into fulfilling life beyond education. It is our ambitious goal to support every one of our students into employment, further education or training once they leave us at 19.We promise to ensure all our students have the opportunity to:Gain a minimum of 4 Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent) qualifications, including Maths and EnglishGain a vocational qualification in a pathway of their choiceDevelop employability and life skills, including recognised qualificationsHave real, meaningful work experiences, including being allocated a career coach, who will stay with them post-19We also believe that we cannot support our young people in isolation, and so always look for innovative ways to support our wider community, the young people’s families. This can be through offering a friendly ear / support to the adults around our students through to real, practical support via our ‘Project Pantry’, a one-stop option for families struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.The Project is part of the New Bridge Group, a specialist MAT focussed on supporting young people across Oldham, Tameside, Rochdale and Stockport with additional needs. Through the MAT, and our partnerships with wider external agencies, we can support our young people up to the age of 25, ensuring they have the best possible outcomes and move successfully into adulthood.Following the internal promotion within the trust of the previous post holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Head of Site to help steer the school into the next phase of its growth and development.Springboard Project is one of very few schools offering 14-19 education for young people with SEMH needs across Manchester and is highly sought after for places.The Springboard Project aims to support all learners as a ''''Project without Barriers,'''' guided by the motto: "Maslow before Bloom," ensuring that students\'' emotional and psychological needs are prioritised before academic progress. Trauma Informed Practice is embedded throughout our school’s culture and practices, ensuring that every student, staff member, and community member is valued, respected, and supported without judgment, fostering an environment of trust, empathy, and emotional safety crucial for growth and achievement. This approach has contributed to an outstanding staff attendance rate, currently standing at 97% for the last academic year.At the end of the 2022-2023 academic year, Springboard Project provided education to 69 young people. By the start of the 2023-2024 academic year, the student cohort had increased to 94, and by the start of 2024-2025, this number had risen to 134. We expect to reach 170 students by the start of the 2025-2026 academic year. All students have an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), with SEMH as their primary need.Candidates should be able to demonstrate recent, successful, and sustained impact as a senior leader along with experience of working with children and young people with SEMH, and hold a strong belief in the underlying need to build relationships and work within a framework that supports rather than seeks to punish behaviours. You will have a positive attitude which will inspire, enthuse and motivate students, staff and the wider school community. You must be confident, approachable and have the skills to work collaboratively, build effective teams and also to be a present and visible leader who leads by example.
