Overview
Role: Financial Controller (Fixed term, 15 months – parental leave cover). Part time up to 30 hours per week (3–4 days). Location: United Kingdom (hybrid). Salary: Up to £78,000 (depending on experience) pro rata for part-time hours.Closing date: 8th September 2025 (5pm). This role sits at the heart of our finance function and reports to the CFO. You will be responsible for the financial operations of our UK entities, Public Digital and PD Holdings, and will support future international entities with help from local experts. We are exploring growth in Nigeria, Canada, and the US.You will manage core financial systems and processes (including Xero) and lead relationships with external partners such as accountants, auditors, banks, and tax advisors. You will work closely with our Central Support team as their finance business partner to provide clear, accurate data for decision-making.As the organisation grows, you will help improve and simplify how we work, lead on accounts payable improvements, and set up scalable processes. This is a hands-on, collaborative role that shapes how we run Public Digital.Responsibilities
Own financial accounting and the balance sheet, keeping records accurate and up to dateOwn tax compliance in all jurisdictions where Public Digital operatesSet up and improve finance policies, processes and controls that are practical and easy to followEnsure we meet accounting standards and legal requirementsLead timely and efficient month-end and year-end processesPrepare and review financial reports that are clear, accurate and usefulMonitor cash flow and working capital to support planning and resilienceCoordinate annual audits and manage relationships with external auditorsProvide clear, evidence-based financial advice to support good decisionsCollaborate with other teams to simplify finance processesRequirements
A degree (or equivalent) in finance, accounting or related fieldCCAB-qualified accountant with at least 3 years’ post-qualification experienceExperience as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance roleStrong understanding of accounting principles and financial reportingAttention to detail and confidence working with financial dataComfortable using MacBooks and Google WorkspaceExperience managing or supporting a team member is helpful but not essentialIf you don’t meet every requirement but believe you could contribute, we’d still like to hear from you.How You Will Be Assessed
