We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join the team at Colchester, a specialist primary provision supporting pupils across KS1 and KS2 who have experienced barriers to learning.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with SEND, SEMH needs, and those who have faced challenges in mainstream education, helping them re-engage, rebuild confidence, and succeed.
About UsProvision offering interim alternative and specialist education. The Colchester site is home to a specialist SEMH provision for pupils with EHCPs, supporting children referred through:
- Permanent Exclusion
- Request for Support
- SEND Operations
Our mission is simple: to help every pupil overcome barriers, re-engage with learning, and successfully transition to their next stage in education.
The RoleYou will work closely with the SENCo, Senior Leadership Team, and teaching staff to provide both 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
You’ll play a key role in creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment, where every child feels valued and supported.
Key Responsibilities- Support pupils’ learning, progress, and emotional wellbeing
- Work with children with SEND and SEMH needs, including those with trauma backgrounds
- Build strong, positive relationships and model excellent behaviour
- Assist with planning, interventions, and classroom delivery
- Engage with families and carers to support pupil development
- Contribute to a collaborative and reflective team environment
- Experience working with KS1/KS2 pupils (essential)
- Strong literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills
- Experience supporting children with SEND and/or SEMH needs (desirable)
- A calm, resilient, and proactive approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

- Monday – Thursday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
