Job overviewBarts Health NHS Trust is seeking a dynamic and visionary medical leader to take on the role of Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO) – Medical Workforce .The NHS 10 year plan has brought into sharp focus the models care we have and the way in which medical communities are shaped to best meet patient demand. There is much to do; this essential leadership role is designed to meet this need through workforce transformation. The role will provide Group-wide strategic oversight and support operational delivery for our medical workforce agenda, across one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country.At a time of significant financial and operational challenge across the NHS, this role is pivotal in driving smarter ways of working and delivering long-term workforce efficiencies.The successful candidate will help shape a medical workforce model that is both clinically robust and economically sustainable.The DCMO will lead key initiatives in job planning, medical staffing, workforce productivity, recruitment, and the integration of new workforce models — all of which are critical to delivering safe, high-quality, and sustainable care for our diverse communities.Main duties of the jobKey Responsibilities Include:Leading the Trust’s strategy on medical workforce planning and optimisationDriving evidenced improvements in job planning, recruitment, retention, and productivityOverseeing governance and compliance processes for medical workforce deploymentPlanning and leading on medical wellbeing endeavoursCollaborating with internal and external stakeholders across the NHS and beyondActing as a senior leader and, when required, deputising for the Group Chief Medical OfficeYou will work closely with:Hospital Medical Directors, Clinical Board Chairs, the Education AcademyGroup Executive Team and operational leadersNational and regional bodies including NHS England, ICBs, and Royal CollegesWorking for our organisationThe Barts Health group of NHS hospitals is entering an exciting new era on our improvement journey to becoming an outstanding organisation with a world-class clinical reputation.
