Are you a compassionate, patient, and empathetic Mental Health Assistant looking for a rewarding new opportunity? Do you have experience supporting children or young people with mental health, emotional, or additional needs?

A welcoming and inclusive Specialist School in Newbury is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Assistant to join their supportive team as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mental Health Assistant to provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils experiencing a range of emotional, social, and mental health needs, including anxiety, low mood, SEMH, emotional regulation difficulties, and challenging behaviour.

This Mental Health Assistant role will involve:

• Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with mental health and emotional needs
• Helping pupils to develop emotional regulation and positive coping strategies
• Supporting pupils experiencing anxiety, low mood, and social or emotional difficulties
• Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Encouraging pupils to engage positively with learning and school life
• Helping to create a calm, safe, and nurturing learning environment
• Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and other professionals
• Supporting pupils to develop confidence, resilience, independence, and social skills
• ASAP start
• Well-connected Newbury location with good public transport links

If you have previous experience working with children or young people, particularly within mental health, education, youth work, care, or a similar setting, we would love to hear from you. Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or emotional needs is desirable, but a caring personality, resilience, and willingness to learn are equally important for this Mental Health Assistant position.
