Delivery Driver
Delivery Driver (3.5 tonne flatbed)
Location: Covering Southeast England to the Midlands.
Salary: GBP40,000 - GBP45,000 per year
Hours: Monday - Friday, 6am - 4pm. Overtime available.
Job type: Full-time, temp ongoing.
Bridge Recruitment s helping one of our established clients recruit for an experienced Delivery Driver to join their team. This role supports on-time delivery, protects product quality in transit, and provides a professional customer handover.
Responsibilities of the Delivery Driver:
- Carry out multi-drop deliveries and collections to customer sites, suppliers, and yards.
- Drive a 3.5 tonne flatbed vehicle safely and legally, following all road traffic and company rules.
- Plan routes efficiently, taking account of time windows, site access, and traffic conditions.
- Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly.
- Load and unload gates, mesh panels, posts, and fixings safely (manual handling and with lifting aids where available).
- Secure loads correctly using straps, edge protectors, and other restraints to prevent damage or movement.
- Protect finished goods from scratches, bending, and weather exposure using appropriate packaging and coverings.
- Maintain clean, safe working practices during loading/unloading and on customer sites.
- Provide a professional, helpful handover to customers and site teams.
- Obtain proof of delivery (POD) and ensure delivery paperwork is accurate and complete.
- Escalate delivery issues quickly (access restrictions, damaged goods, missing items, customer queries).
- Keep accurate records including PODs, delivery notes, vehicle check sheets, and tachograph compliance (if applicable).
- Follow Health & Safety procedures, including safe manual handling and working on customer sites.
- Support general yard and warehouse tasks when not driving, as needed.
Requirements of the Delivery Driver:
- Full UK driving licence with entitlement to drive up to 3.5 tonnes (Category B).
- Proven experience driving a 3.5 tonne flatbed or similar commercial vehicle.
- Strong understanding of load securing and safe manual handling.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work to deadlines.
- Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Comfortable handling heavy / awkward loads (with support and equipment provided).
