Senior Design Engineer (HV Cables)

to work with

They design both permanent and temporary works for projects in all our locations and are a trusted source of expert advice for both Murphy colleagues and external customers.Responsibilities

Developing HV/EHV cabling systems specifications, concept/detailed design and design review, estimation, site supervision and support as requiredProvide technical support to the team on all aspects of HV cable system engineering and designPrepare plant and equipment technical specification, power cable route specifications, tender specifications, technical and progress reportsEnsuring correct and accurate interface with other engineering functions involved in the projects, attend, and conduct internal and external meetings with colleagues, clients, and subcontractorsPerform technical calculations including cable size, rating calculations, TMF and EMF calculations, Sheath induced voltage calculations and otherEnsuring all project designs are compliant with CDM regulations, relevant legislation and company proceduresEstablish and promote best practice in health, safety, and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE departmentEnsure that the drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction of the works. Formally request any missing information in sufficient time to allow the programme to proceed without delayEnsure that inspection and test plans are completed as required by the PMP / Specification, including a check of dimension accuracy and qualityQualifications

Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Power EngineeringDetail design Experience of HV cabling projectsCo-ordination of HV Cable Works design and interfaces throughout project lifecycle including development of drawings and calculationsAn understanding of the commercial and technical issues in undertaking a large-scale construction projectAbility and confidence to discuss engineering issues with people across various levels and disciplinesKnowledge of AutoCAD Professional 2D, CYMECAP, MathcadWhat’s in it for you?
