Learning Support Assistant
TeacherActive is proud to be working with a well-established Pupil Referral Unit / PRU in Cardiff that supports pupils aged 11 - 16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs, behavioural challenges and Additional Learning Needs / ALN. The provision offers a structured and supportive environment with a personalised approach to helping young people engage with their education. The PRU is looking for a PRU Teaching Assistant to work on a full-time, temporary basis, providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with needs including SEMH, EBD, ADHD and trauma-related behaviours. The successful PRU Teaching Assistant will support personalised learning and behaviour plans, help pupils regulate their emotions and use effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies to maintain a calm and safe learning environment. The successful PRU Teaching Assistant will have: A relevant Teaching Assistant, Youth Work or Care qualification is desirable A minimum of 6 months'' experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour Experience within a PRU, ALN school, youth work, care or alternative provision setting Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills Experience with trauma-informed practice, restorative approaches or Team Teach-style strategies is desirable A patient, resilient and nurturing approach In return for the above you can expect to receive: A dedicated team of consultants available 24/7 to help you with the easy onboarding process CPD ..... full job details .....
