Job Title: SC Cleared Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Farnborough
Duration: Initially until January 2026 with possibility to extend until the end of Summer
Rate: Up to -470 per day via an approved umbrella company
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Infrastructure Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and support of enterprise-level infrastructure solutions across on-premise and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data center operations, cloud migration (particularly Azure), virtualization technologies, and infrastructure architecture using the TOGAF model. This role involves both strategic planning and hands-on implementation, with a focus on stability, scalability, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, deploy, and maintain infrastructure solutions across on-premise and cloud platforms (Azure).
- Lead and support BAU operations, ensuring high availability and performance of systems.
- Design and implement virtualization solutions using Hyper-V and VMware clusters.
- Manage enterprise storage systems (SAN, NAS, DAS) and backup/DR solutions (Veeam, Veritas, CommVault).
- Administer core services including Active Directory, Exchange, SCCM, SCOM, IIS, and SQL Server.
- Oversee network infrastructure including firewalls (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet), switches (Cisco Catalyst, Juniper), and load balancers (KEMP, Citrix NetScaler).
- Provide mentorship and documentation to support knowledge transfer and team development.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to assess infrastructure needs and deliver tailored solutions.
- Monitor systems using tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, and SCOM.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices across all systems.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server (Apply online only)), Linux/Unix (Ubuntu/Redhat).
- Proven experience with cloud technologies (Azure IAAS, ASR, Office 365).
- Expertise in virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), storage, and backup technologies.
- Solid understanding of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs).
- Experience with enterprise monitoring and management tools.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash).
- Familiarity with telecom systems (Cisco VOIP, PBX, Mitel).
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- TOGAF certification or equivalent architectural framework experience.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator / Architect.
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
- ITIL Foundation or higher.
- Experience with MDM solutions (Intune, AirWatch).
