Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting SEND and SEMH Teaching Assistants to work across a range of welcoming mainstream and specialist schools throughout Solihull.
We have opportunities available for experienced Teaching Assistants, as well as individuals with relevant transferable experience who are looking to develop their careers within education and SEND.
You will play an important role in supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism (ASC/ASD), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, learning difficulties and complex needs.

As a SEND/SEMH Teaching Assistant, you may be supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis, in small groups or within the classroom, depending on the needs of the school and individual learners.
Your responsibilities may include:
Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs
Supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, MLD, SLD, PMLD and complex learning needs
Helping children access learning and engage positively within the classroom
Supporting emotional regulation, positive behaviour and social development
Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral support teams
Following individual learning plans, EHCPs and behaviour support strategies
Supporting pupils with communication, sensory and additional learning needs
Creating a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
Helping pupils build confidence, independence and essential life skills
Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational or SEND setting
A caring, patient and resilient approach
A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
Confidence supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Reliability, flexibility and the ability to work as part of a wider school team
A willingness to learn and develop your SEND knowledge and skills
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
Desirable Experience:
Previous experience within SEN schools, mainstream schools, alternative provisions or PRUs
Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD or PMLD
Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, Team Teach or other communication and behaviour support strategies
Experience working with children or young people with EHCPs
Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications or training
