Overview

Band 3 Generic Therapy Assistant – Stroke Wards. 9 month fixed term contract. Based at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, working across the Stroke wards including Hyper-acute and Acute Stroke Unit at Queen’s Hospital and the Rehab Unit in Goodmayes. You will work alongside Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech and Language Therapists providing rehabilitation plans within the stroke pathway.As a member of this team you will be required to communicate well and be confident in working within guidelines and protocols. Regular in-house training will support your ongoing clinical development.Responsibilities

Provide skilled routine, and some non-routine, clinical and non-clinical support to the Therapy team (Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists).Accept patients allocated by the qualified therapist and treat according to protocols and guidelines.Monitor patient progression and make minor alterations to patient treatment programs as required.Work independently with access to direct supervision as required; maintain close communication with qualified therapists to facilitate patient care.Actively participate in departmental induction and in-service training programs.Carry out other duties deemed necessary by the Team Lead to ensure adequate provision of service.Essential criteria

Evidence of recent experience working with people.Good standard of general education, to GCSE level or equivalent.Good communication skills.Employment details
