Maintenance Engineer – Instrumentation

This is an exciting opportunity within a successful manufacturing and test facility involved with the design, manufacture and test of a range of engines. They are looking for a Maintenance Technician / Engineer to carry out preventative maintenance of the test facility and its equipment – Instrumentation, analysers and measurement equipment etc
These facilities run 24/7 so the role offers overtime for any works carried out at weekends or over 8 hours a day, 7 on Fridays.
Your Role: Maintenance Engineer:
As a maintenance technician / engineer you will be involved with supporting preventative maintenance, repair and fixing of all equipment and instrumentation within the test facility
This will typically involve:
- Breakdown support, fault finding and repair on electronics, 3 phase electrical and mechanical instrumentation and systems
- Routine maintenance and service – implementing planned and preventative maintenance schedules
- Responsible for total preventative maintenance (TPM) of engine test facility systems and instrumentation from emission benches, gas measurement, thermocouples, analysers to motors, fans, pumps, adiabatic system decommissioning and recommissioning
Skills: Maintenance Engineer:
- Proven experience working as a maintenance technician / engineer / service engineer with strong preventative maintenance experience
- Knowledge of electronics, electrical with some mechanical engineering, coupled with experience of PCBs, wiring, 3 phase electrical systems, instrumentation through to industrial motors, pumps, fans etc (industrial motors from <1hp up to 20kW)
- Apprenticeship-served or HNC-level qualification preferred; strong craft/apprentice background ideal
- Good proven maintenance, fault finding, service, commissioning/decommissioning and repair abilities
- Ability to work independently, self-driven and manage own workload without close supervision
- Methodical, diligent and proactive in identifying and preventing issues before they arise
- Willingness to work occasional weekends (approx. 6 times/year, with overtime pay)
Overtime is accrued daily at time and a half after 8 hours (Mon to Thu) and after 7 hours on a Friday. Saturday is time and a half, Sundays and bank holidays are double time.
The company is commutable from Derby, Foston, Stafford, Burton upon Trent, Uttoxeter, Castle Donnington, Stoke on Trent, Rocester etc.
