The Role - Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant
This primary school is looking for a dedicated Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to work with a pupil who requires additional emotional and behavioural support.Rather than simply providing classroom assistance, you will play an important role in helping the pupil recognise their emotions, manage frustration and develop more appropriate ways of communicating.The pupil can present with verbally challenging behaviour, particularly when they are overwhelmed or dysregulated. You will therefore need excellent communication skills and the ability to use calm, effective de-escalation techniques.You will help the pupil identify triggers, establish routines and develop strategies that enable them to remain engaged in school. Building positive relationships will be at the heart of the role, alongside maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.The successful candidate should have an understanding of SEMH, attachment and trauma and be able to see beyond the behaviour to understand the needs behind it.You will work alongside teachers and the school''s pastoral team, sharing observations and helping to ensure the pupil receives consistent support throughout the school day.
