You will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and inspecting a wide range of council vehicles, including HGVs, light commercial vehicles, municipal vehicles, and electric/hybrid models.The main duties of the Heavy Vehicle Technician include: Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on a variety of council fleet vehicles. Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults. Preparing vehicles for MOT inspections and completing safety checks. Carrying out welding, fabrication and body repair works where required. Responding to vehicle breakdowns and accident-damaged vehicles. Maintaining accurate maintenance records and ensuring high workshop standards. Supporting the wider Fleet Services team with the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle fleet.The Heavy Vehicle Technician will have key experience in: Holding a City and Guilds Level 3 qualification in Heavy Motor Vehicle Engineering, or an equivalent qualification covering MOT inspection standards.
