Skilled Careers is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Electrical Shift Lead Engineer to join a leading FM service provider at a prestigious commercial office building near Liverpool Street, London. This is a permanent role offering continental shifts (days & nights) and a competitive salary of up to £58,000, depending on experience.

Role Overview
As the Shift Lead, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the engineering team during your shift, ensuring all planned and reactive maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard. You’ll act as the primary point of contact for site management, contractors, and clients, while maintaining compliance and safety across all building systems.

- Salary: Up to £58,000 per annum
- Contract Type: Permanent
- Shift Pattern: Continental (4 on, 4 off – rotating days & nights)
- Hours: 07:00–19:00 / 19:00–07:00
- Start Date: Immediate
Core Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of engineers during shift operations
- Allocate tasks and ensure timely completion of PPM and reactive works
- Provide technical guidance and hands-on support for electrical systems
- Conduct emergency lighting tests, fault-finding, and control panel maintenance
- Monitor and respond to BMS alerts for HVAC and critical systems
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and statutory regulations
- Maintain accurate logbooks, reports, and shift handovers
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and site management to resolve issues
- Support training and development of junior engineers
- Escalate major faults and coordinate emergency response procedures
Candidate Requirements
- City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 in Electrical Installations
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (essential)
- Proven experience in commercial building maintenance
- Previous supervisory or lead engineer experience (desirable)
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Ability to manage workloads and prioritise tasks under pressure
- Must be able to provide copies of relevant trade certificates
