An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, committed and compassionate Band 6 Paediatric Nurse (Senior Staff Nurse) to work as a Procedure Nurse on Rays of Sunshine Ward. They will lead on the nursing aspect of our in-house biopsy service on our 18 bedded paediatric ward.Rays of Sunshine Ward treats a wide range of liver associated illnesses and provides paediatric liver service including transplantation. The role offers opportunities to develop skills in paediatric procedures and leadership within the ward team.Main duties of the job
To provide nursing support during the delivery of the in-house biopsy service on Rays of Sunshine Ward.To work alongside the Ward Leader in the delivery of high standard and efficient procedures within the paediatric liver service.To provide expert, holistic care of a high standard to patients and their relatives.To take direct managerial responsibility for the clinical area in the absence of or as delegated by the ward manager/matron/head of department.To assist in the leadership and development of an identified group of nurses within the ward complement.To act as a clinical resource within the ward and across the Care Group as necessary.To act as a positive role model to junior staff members.Education, Research and Professional Development
To mentor junior staff, supervise and support ongoing development of junior and student nurses.To act as practice supervisor, completing competency documents for junior staff within agreed timeframes.To promote application of research and evidence-based practices and participate in research projects as appropriate.Management and Leadership
To manage clinical workload effectively and contribute to cost-effective service delivery.To coordinate ward activities and liaise with Medical Personnel and Bed Manager for optimal bed usage.To lead an identified group of staff, monitor development of clinical skills, and support risk management and incident reporting.General and Professional Standards
To adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and maintain high standards of nursing care. To observe Trust policies, ensure confidentiality, and participate in departmental meetings as required. The post holder must maintain own competency, statutory and mandatory training, and contribute to the development of colleagues.Person Specification
Essential
