Are you an experienced highways design engineer?
We''re looking for an experienced Senior Highways Design Engineer to join an established Engineering Solutions team delivering essential highways maintenance and improvement schemes across the UK.
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of projects, lead multidisciplinary teams and make an impact on the safety, performance and sustainability of the UK''s highway network.
The role
As the Senior Highways Design Engineer, you''ll take responsibility for the successful delivery of highways maintenance and improvement schemes, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the design and delivery of highways maintenance and improvement projects.
- Managing projects from initial design through to delivery.
- Undertaking technical design checks and reviews.
- Carrying out regular site visits, surveys and inspections.
- Managing project programmes, resources, costs and deliverables.
- Supporting and developing team members through mentoring, training, performance reviews and effective people management.
- Ensuring health and safety is effectively managed throughout the design and construction process.
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
You''ll ideally have:
- IEng or CEng status, or be an experienced engineer actively working towards professional registration.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary projects within the highways sector.
- A strong track record of delivering projects against programme, cost and quality requirements.
- Experience using and reviewing highways alignment, drainage and signing design software, together with AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of National Highways and Local Authority design standards and contracts as well as experience working with the NEC suite of contracts.
- Experience in design resource planning and programme management.
- A strong understanding of health and safety within design and construction.
- Good commercial awareness and an understanding of successful project delivery.
- A full, clean driving licence.
