Purpose of the Role The Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering will be responsible for planning, delivering, assessing, and supporting high-quality teaching and learning within the Mechanical Engineering programmes. The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum development and ensure an outstanding student experience, while supporting learners in achieving their academic and personal goals. Key Responsibilities The role involves planning and delivering effective teaching across a range of Mechanical Engineering programmes. This includes the development of lesson plans, schemes of work, and assessment materials, and conducting assessments using appropriate methods. You will be required to set individual targets for students, guide them through the learning process, and support their progression through action planning and review. In addition to teaching, you will maintain accurate records of students progress, achievement, attendance, and retention using electronic systems. Promoting and monitoring high levels of student attendance and following up with non-attenders as required will be an integral part of the role. The Lecturer will act as a personal tutor for learners, providing academic and pastoral support. For students requiring additional learning support, you will collaborate with Learning Support Assistants to ensure appropriate interventions and adjustments are made.
