Autism Support Worker - School Based (Young People)Location: DurhamFull-time and Part-time opportunities available Milk Education is working with a large SEND specialist provision in the central Durham area to recruit Autism Support Workers who genuinely want to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people with complex SEND needs. This role focuses on providing support for learners with Autism and ADHD, as well as a range of other learning disabilities, including students who are non-verbal or have significant communication needs. This role is suited to individuals who are patient, calm and confident in supporting students who require structured routines, clear communication strategies and consistent emotional support. Pupils may present with sensory processing differences, emotional regulation needs or behaviours that communicate unmet needs. Both full-time and part-time positions are available, offering flexibility to suit your availability. Autism Support Worker Key Responsibilities: Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support for pupils aged from 5 - 19 years old with a range of complex SEND, including Autism and ADHDSupport non-verbal pupils using alternative and augmentative communication strategiesUse tools such as Makaton, visual timetables and communication boards to support understanding and engagementSupport with the delivery of Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs) Encourage emotional regulation, communication and engagement in ..... full job details .....
