Setting Out Engineer 
Location - Aylesbury 
Duration - 12 Months
Rate: £330 per day CIS or Ltd Company

Overview Tradestech Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join a major HS2 infrastructure project on a 12-month contract basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer with strong setting out experience to work on one of the UK’s largest infrastructure programmes, supporting the successful delivery of complex civil engineering works.
Key Responsibilities

• Carry out accurate setting out duties using surveying equipment including GPS, robotic total stations, and laser levels.
• Interpret and work from engineering drawings, specifications, and construction information.
• Provide site teams with accurate dimensional control and technical support.
• Ensure works are constructed in accordance with approved designs, tolerances, and project specifications.
• Complete quality assurance checks and maintain accurate site records.
• Liaise with Site Agents, Engineers, Supervisors, and project management teams.
• Assist with resolving technical issues and provide engineering solutions on site.
• Monitor progress and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to programme.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer within civil engineering projects.
• Experience working on major infrastructure projects is essential.
• HS2 experience would be highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, drawings, and construction methods.
• Competent using surveying equipment and relevant engineering software.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work independently.
• Valid CSCS card (relevant engineering qualification preferred).
• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
