A specialist SEN school in St Albans is seeking a dedicated BSL Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025. The school provides tailored support for pupils with hearing loss, autism, and complex needs, fostering a nurturing and communicative learning space.
About the Role
This is a full-time, term-time position ideal for someone who is empathetic, skilled in BSL, and committed to inclusive education. Youandrsquo;ll work closely with pupils who use sign language as their primary mode of communication, helping them access learning and thrive socially.
Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 and small group support using BSL
- Facilitate communication between pupils, staff, and peers
- Support personalised learning plans and therapy sessions
- Promote social interaction and emotional wellbeing
- Collaborate with teachers, speech and language therapists, and families
- Assist with personal care when needed
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reviews
What Weandrsquo;re Looking For
- BSL Level 3 qualification (essential)
- Experience working with SEN or deaf pupils is highly desirable
- Calm, patient, and compassionate approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn and take part in training
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
