Overview

The Barrow Cadbury Trust is a dynamic, independent charitable foundation seeking a just and peaceful society which recognises the equal value of all people. Largely working in partnerships with others, we use all our resources – our money, our people and our name – to bring about structural change to increase social justice and equality. Our current Director of Programmes and Learning is leaving and we are recruiting her replacement to join our Executive Team. Working in collaboration with a wide range of partners, our programmes are informed by the experience of those affected by inequality and injustice issues we seek to address. We have a staff team that is highly capable and expert in their fields, and a committed and hard-working board. We seek long-term, lasting change to the structures and systems which perpetuate disadvantage. This is a rare opportunity for an inspirational leader of programmes and learning, adept at strategic thinking and with a passion for the Barrow Cadbury Trust’s vision and mission, to join us.Responsibilities

As Director of Programmes and Learning, you will guide and support our programme team as they design and deliver ambitious programmes that build power in communities and drive systemic change. You will oversee our grant-making, ensuring that processes remain robust and transparent. A crucial part of the role will be to ensure that learning and evaluation from across our programmes is gathered, shared and used to influence wider change. You will work closely with the Chief Executive and Board, contributing to the Trust’s strategic direction, while managing and developing staff and contractors. Externally, you will represent the Trust in meetings and at events, forging relationships with partners and building new opportunities for collaboration and investment.Qualifications and attributes

We are seeking a senior leader who shares our ambition for long-term change and who brings experience of programme leadership, grant-making and advocacy. You will be skilled at working across diverse teams and sectors, able to balance strategy with delivery, and committed to amplifying the voices of those most affected by inequality. Above all, you will be motivated by our mission to create a more just and peaceful society in which everyone’s value is recognised.Application details
