NHS .Band 6 Specialist Podiatrist. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and innovative podiatrist to work within our Specialist Podiatry Service in Tower Hamlets within community clinics; domiciliary setting and Mile End Hospital. You will be involved daily in our Emergency Clinic (Monday–Friday) which provides Gold standard active wound care.The successful candidate will join a multi-professional team and contribute to improving service user care, experience and outcomes.Date posted: 26 September 2025. Location: Mile End Hospital, Bancroft Road, London, E1 4DG. Salary: £46,419 to £55,046 a year per annum inc HCA. Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Full-time.
Responsibilities
Provide specialist podiatric assessment and treatment via a holistic approach to a varied and complex caseload within the community and hospital settings.
Be involved daily in the Emergency Clinic and contribute to nail surgery and ulcer management clinics.
Responsible for treatment planning for foot complications related to diabetes and other vascular/ischaemic long-term conditions; participate in the Foot Protection Team.
Support service delivery in community health services and multidisciplinary clinics, with a focus on high-quality patient care.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
BSc (Pod) or equivalent
One year''s postgraduate work experience
Current Registration with HCPC
Desirable:
Postgraduate qualification
Current UK Driving license
Experience:
Postgraduate experience with high-risk patients and diabetics; willingness to work toward it
Experience in clinics with patients presenting complex and varied pathologies
Ability to create and follow treatment plans including onward referrals, liaising with other professionals
Experience with managing stock within a budget (Desirable)
Knowledge and Skills:
Advanced hands-on experience in treating high-risk patients
Maintenance of equipment/MOUs and COSHH compliance for stock and safety
Ability to manage a week-to-week domiciliary caseload and administer in line with department guidelines
Ability to obtain patient consent for surgical intervention and present complex treatment options; ability to educate and negotiate with patients and carers
Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and independently in primary and secondary care settings
Personal and Professional Development
Support administration staff and contribute to clinical governance initiatives, standards, guidelines and protocols
Participate in development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures
Support team lead and head of service in managing and implementing change
Desirable: supervise foot-care assistants and students on clinical placements; coordinate education and mentoring for junior staff
Communication
Attend monthly podiatry team meetings and locality multidisciplinary meetings to share information and support service development
Review patient progress and refer as necessary to other healthcare professionals and podiatry leads
Maintain patient notes (electronic and hard copy) in line with Trust requirements
