We are working with a well-regarded Secondary School in Colchester that is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join its successful English department. This school is committed to delivering high-quality education and fostering a love of reading, writing and communication, helping students achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

Job Overview:

  • Full-time, Monday - Friday English Teacher role.
  • Teach English Language and English Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 for suitable candidates.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative and differentiated lessons.
  • Inspire students to develop strong literacy, analytical and communication skills.
  • Assess, monitor and track student progress to ensure excellent outcomes.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.
  • Work collaboratively with the English department and wider school team.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, intervention programmes and enrichment opportunities.
  • Support students in preparing for GCSE and A-Level examinations.

This English Teacher role in Colchester offers the opportunity to work within a supportive and ambitious school environment, with a strong focus on professional development and career progression. You will play a key role in developing students'' confidence, critical thinking skills and appreciation of literature and language.

What We''re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in English, English Literature, English Language or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level.
  • A passion for literacy, literature and student achievement.
  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
  • The ability to engage, motivate and inspire learners of all abilities.
  • A proactive, positive and collaborative approach.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
