As Head of Software Engineering, you’ll lead the software engineering function and shape the multi-year roadmap with responsibility for software development, digital platforms, DevOps and QA across the organisation.You’ll develop strategies, roadmaps and standards for current and future platforms, and execute capabilities to the business. You’ll manage the website, intranet and PowerPlatform services, working with stakeholders to deploy new features and services that deliver business value. As Chapter Lead, you’ll provide technical leadership to a team of -35 (onshore and offshore), developing the team, setting vision and standards, and delivering capability across Technology.Working arrangements: this is a hybrid role with work split between home and one day per week at the London office, with flexibility as needed.Responsibilities
Lead the software engineering function and drive the multi-year roadmap for software development, digital platforms, DevOps and QA.Define and implement strategies, roadmaps and standards for current and future platforms.Oversee management of the website, intranet and PowerPlatform services.Collaborate with stakeholders across technology to deploy new features and services that deliver business value.Provide technical leadership to a team of -35, including coaching, vision setting and standards enforcement.Support development of the organisation’s digital capabilities and secure, scalable, cloud-native architecture.About You
Degree qualified in a technology, computing or related discipline, or significant relevant industry experience.Strong technical knowledge in: C#, HTML, CSS, ASP.NET, SQL, MVC, JavaScript, jQuery, XML, SharePoint, MongoDB.Proven experience leading software engineering in a bimodal delivery environment, managing build/buy/partner strategies and vendor ecosystems.Background in secure, scalable, cloud-native architecture and DevOps practices.Strong stakeholder management, with ability to communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences; broad experience across web/digital/integration/UX/backend/full stack.Excellent leadership, recruitment and team-building skills; strong written and verbal communication; ability to simplify complex problems and articulate decisions to all levels, including board/executive leadership.About Us
