Enthusiastic 2IC Herdsperson for grazing set-up

We are looking for a positive, driven and experienced herdsperson to join our young team on a dairy enterprise in the north area of the East Midlands. Key responsibilities will include milking (through a 45:90 with backing gate), foot trimming, herd health and fertility, grazing management, general stock husbandry tasks and sharing the day-to-day running of the herd. The farm currently milks around 550 cows. The herd is mainly block calved in late spring and is made up of robust Friesian X cattle producing milk on a premium solids contract. Making the most from forage the focus will be on profitable, sustainable milk production with emphasis on high herd welfare. We are looking for: • A flexible and positive attitude • Team player • Experience in a similar role • Foot trimming experience/certificate • Ability to lead the team when necessary Attitude and willingness to learn is essential; training will be offered to the right person for essential skills. There is an emphasis on continuous personal development and active involvement in a number of dairy discussion groups is encouraged.
