Senior Full Stack Engineer

We8;re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team of 10, working primarily on our web app and workplace platform. While youll be frontend-leaning, youll also act in a tech lead capacity; designing solutions that span our entire stack, including backend services, APIs, and database models.
In this role, youll:
Take ownership of
end-to-end feature delivery,
from shaping requirements to deployment and monitoring.
Design technical solutions
that involve both frontend interfaces and backend integrations.
Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to bring new
end-user features
to life.
Define and champion
engineering best practices
across frontend and backend development.
Contribute to the evolution of our
technical architecture
as we grow our platform and user base.
Participate in code reviews, mentor other engineers, and foster a culture of
knowledge sharing .
Help us continually improve our engineering processes, tools, and ways of working.
Youll work across our modern, TypeScript-based stack:
Frontend : React (Next.js), GraphQL (Apollo), TypeScript
Testing : Cypress + Jest
What Were Looking ForYoull be a great fit if you:
Have
7+ yearsxperience
in software engineering, with significant experience in frontend technologies but comfortable working full-stack.
Are highly proficient in
React ,
TypeScript , and
GraphQL , with a strong grasp of backend fundamentals in
Node.js .
Have experience
designing technical solutions
involving APIs, database models, and service integration.
Understand
scalability, performance
and
security
across both frontend and backend.
Enjoy working closely with
product and design teams
to build features that delight users.
Are comfortable mentoring others and helping set technical direction for projects.
Bonus points if you0ve worked on
fintech products
or
complex transactional systems .

Pensions are a huge societal problem with two route causes:
People dont understand pensions
People hate dealing with pensions
So
82% of people arent saving enough
for retirement, according to The Institute for Fiscal Studies.
We believe that the pensions industry is broken. Traditional providers, with their outdated products and poor customer service, have put people off saving. The world of work is rapidly changing and the pensions industry is falling further and further behind.
The result is were living through a silent savings crisis. We started Penfold to address this crisis and get more people saving more for their future by making pension saving easy, accessible and engaging.

Our story
We started as the pension for the self-employed in 2019. Up to 80% of self-employed people weren saving into a pension. We set out to solve that by building a flexible and straightforward pension that got self-employed saving.
Expansion: We expanded our pension to all individual savers in early 2021. Our pension can help everyone contribute, transfer and engage with their pension savings. We started focusing on limited company directors and those in full-time work as well.
Welcoming workplace: We launched our workplace pension in Autumn 2021. Pensions are one of the most expensive benefits companies offer. They dont work for employers or employees. We started offering the future of workplace pensions and have been listed by The Pensions Regulator.
The future is bright: We\''ve got over 100,000 users and thousands of business clients. And weve still got so much further to go to make sure everyone is saving enough for a great retirement.
