Class 1 & Class 2 Drivers – Days and Nights
Location: Thame, Oxfordshire
Salary: £34,000–£39,000, depending on role and experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, 45 hours per week, with additional Saturday hours for day roles
We’re looking for reliable Class 1 and Class 2 Drivers to join a transport team in Thame. We have three positions available, covering local daytime collections and deliveries and overnight transport of palletised freight.
Available Positions:
- Class 1 Driver – Days: £37,000–£39,000. Monday to Friday, 7.30am–5.30pm, with a one-hour lunch break. One Saturday morning per month, 7am–1pm.
- Class 1 Driver – Nights: £37,000–£39,000. Monday to Friday nights, working 45 hours within the 6pm–6am window, with a one-hour unpaid break. Exact shift times to be confirmed.
- Class 2 Driver – Days: £34,000–£36,000. Monday to Friday, 7.30am–5.30pm, with a one-hour lunch break. One Saturday morning per month, 7am–1pm, paid as overtime.
Key Responsibilities of the Drivers:
- Carrying out collections and deliveries of palletised goods safely and on time.
- Completing local delivery routes or overnight journeys to distribution hubs, depending on the role.
- Operating curtain-sided vehicles, tail lifts and electric pallet trucks where required.
- Communicating professionally with customers, depot teams and colleagues.
- Reporting any delays or delivery issues promptly.
- Following health and safety procedures.
- Supporting additional transport work when required.
The Class 1 day role also includes a daily afternoon trailer collection. The Class 2 day role requires flexibility to drive vehicles ranging from 3.5 to 18 tonnes. Some physical work is involved across the roles.
Requirements of the Drivers:
- Appropriate Class 1 or Class 2 driving licence and current Driver CPC.
- Ideally at least 12 months’ driving experience in the relevant vehicle class.
- Experience operating curtain-sided vehicles and tail lifts.
- Reliable, flexible and comfortable working independently and within a team.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to carry out the physical elements of the role.
- Previous night driving experience preferred for the night role, but not essential.
