Within the UK and Ireland our engineers and consultants are involved in some of the most innovative energy projects across the UK providing design, intellectual, and engineering services to developers, investors, owners, and operators. Projects in development, construction, or operation in the UK and Ireland, include more than 60 major thermal power plants across the waste, biomass, and conventional power sectors, 10 GWh of battery storage, 5 GW of solar, 7 GW of on-shore and off-shore wind, 5 GWh of pumped storage hydro projects, and 20 carbon capture projects aiming to capture and permanently sequestrate more than 5 million tonnes of CO2 per annum. We are now looking to recruit an experienced Senior Engineer who has a mechanical engineering degree coupled with experience in the detailed design and/or manufacturing of process equipment to support our ongoing support to industrial decarbonisation projects.Responsibilities / What you will do
Provide detailed design and/or manufacturing input for process equipmentApply knowledge of heat exchangers, piping systems, and pressure parts for use in gas refining, industrial gas production and use, gaseous chemical production, CO2 capture and storage, and process and mechanical systems in power stationsPrepare and review mechanical designs for process plants, including heat and mass balances, basis of design documents, process calculations, material selection, functional descriptions, equipment data sheets, technical specifications, and cause/effect chartsUnderstand and apply principles of process plant layout, pipework routing and arrangementDemonstrate knowledge of process safety principles and quality control systems applicable to process plant design and manufacturingApply knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, material science, and strength of materials and structuresCollaborate with project teams in the UK and, occasionally, overseasEnsure compliance with applicable standards for the design of industrial process components, in particular for areas such as packed columns, gas compressors, pumps/fans/blowers for large utility facilities, heat exchangers, and pressure safety systems for steam, hydrogen, and CO2Travel as required within the UK and occasionally overseasQualifications
A good degree in Mechanical EngineeringIdeally a Chartered EngineerGood practical experience in the detailed design and/or manufacturing of process equipment, heat exchangers or piping system/pressure partsExperience in one or more of the following areas: gas refining; industrial gas production and use; gaseous chemical production; CO2 capture and storage; process and mechanical systems in power stationsFull right to work in the UKBenefits
