Job Description
Job title: Head of Facilities (10-Month Fixed-Term Contract) | National Cultural Institution | Chelsea, London
Salary: -49,340 per annum, pro rata for the 10-month term
Location: Chelsea, London
Contract: Fixed term, 10 months, full time
Start: As soon as possible
A national cultural institution in central London is looking for an experienced Head of Facilities to lead its facilities function for a fixed term of 10 months. The post leads hard and soft facilities management across a busy, public-facing site, working with contractors and with senior colleagues across the organisation.
The team is very small, so the post suits someone who leads through contractor and supplier management and sound judgement, rather than through carrying out repairs personally. The site already has a hands-on technician.
Main responsibilities
- Leading hard and soft facilities management across the site, including planned and reactive maintenance, statutory compliance and health and safety
- Managing contractors and suppliers, including briefing, monitoring performance and signing off completed work
- Using building management system information to diagnose faults and brief specialist contractors accurately
- Managing facilities budgets and approving contractor quotations
- Acting as a visible, approachable point of contact for senior stakeholders, colleagues and visitors
- Acting as duty manager on three to four Saturdays a month, with occasional evening events
About you
- Substantial experience leading facilities in a public-facing, occupied or complex building
- A sound working knowledge of building management systems and compliance
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders and an approachable, customer-focused manner
- A recognised health and safety qualification (IOSH Managing Safely as a minimum, NEBOSH preferred)
- Comfortable with a fixed-term post and able to start quickly
Working pattern: 37 hours a week net, five days out of seven, including some Saturdays. Occasional expensed travel to a second site in Stevenage.
Pre-employment checks: Basic DBS check and two references.
How to apply: Please send your CV with a short covering note setting out why the role interests you and confirming that you are comfortable with the salary and the 10-month term. You will then receive the full job description. Applications are handled in strict confidence.
