Teaching Assistant - SEMH Support
Location: Leicestershire (LE8)
Pay: -90100 per day (PAYE)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm (Term time only)
Contract: Long-term, with potential for a permanent position
Start Date: September 2025
About the Role
We''re working in partnership with a specialist provision in supporting pupils aged 4-16 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. The school offers a therapeutic, child-centred approach with small class sizes, high staff-to-student ratios, and a strong emphasis on emotional regulation, trust and positive behaviour.
The school incorporates outdoor learning and therapeutic experiences into the daily routine. Pupils regularly interact with animals as part of emotional and behavioural support, and benefit from access to art, music, counselling and structured interventions alongside their academic learning.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour strategies
- Build consistent, trusting relationships to support engagement in learning
- Assist teachers in delivering a flexible, personalised curriculum
- Work closely with wider staff including therapists and support workers
What We''re Looking For
- Previous experience supporting young people with additional needs is desirable
- A background in education, youth work, care, support work or similar roles is welcomed
- Patience, empathy, and strong relationship-building skills are essential
- A proactive, consistent and nurturing approach to behaviour management
