As a Mechanical Shift Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining operational continuity across critical mechanical systems, ensuring zero downtime in a fast-paced and technically demanding environment.

The Role

In this Mechanical Shift Engineer position, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and reliability of essential building services systems during a large-scale infrastructure upgrade.

Key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing and supporting mechanical systems throughout a major refurbishment project
• Carrying out fault-finding, diagnostics, and repairs on air source heat pumps and HVAC equipment
• Working collaboratively with electrical engineers and wider engineering teams to maintain system integrity
• Delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across mechanical plant
• Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations and compliance standards
• Responding quickly to technical issues in a live TV and broadcasting environment where service continuity is critical
• Supporting operational excellence within a complex critical facilities environment

About You

To succeed as a Mechanical Shift Engineer, you’ll need strong technical knowledge, excellent fault-finding ability, and the confidence to make decisions under pressure.

You will ideally have:

• A Level 3 qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent
• Proven experience within building services, facilities management, or critical environments
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, heating, ventilation, and plumbing systems
• Experience working with air source heat pumps and associated mechanical plant
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• The ability to remain calm and effective within high-pressure operational environments
• Previous experience in critical facilities, data centres, broadcasting, or healthcare environments would be advantageous
