Are you an experienced Mechanical Shift Engineer looking to work in one of London’s most high-profile critical environments? This is an exciting opportunity to join a market-leading Facilities Management company supporting a major £150 million refurbishment project.
As a Mechanical Shift Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining operational continuity across critical mechanical systems, ensuring zero downtime in a fast-paced and technically demanding environment.
The Role
In this Mechanical Shift Engineer position, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and reliability of essential building services systems during a large-scale infrastructure upgrade.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing and supporting mechanical systems throughout a major refurbishment project
- Carrying out fault-finding, diagnostics, and repairs on air source heat pumps and HVAC equipment
- Working collaboratively with electrical engineers and wider engineering teams to maintain system integrity
- Delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across mechanical plant
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations and compliance standards
- Responding quickly to technical issues in a live TV and broadcasting environment where service continuity is critical
- Supporting operational excellence within a complex critical facilities environment
To succeed as a Mechanical Shift Engineer, you’ll need strong technical knowledge, excellent fault-finding ability, and the confidence to make decisions under pressure.
You will ideally have:
- A Level 3 qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent
- Proven experience within building services, facilities management, or critical environments
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, heating, ventilation, and plumbing systems
- Experience working with air source heat pumps and associated mechanical plant
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- The ability to remain calm and effective within high-pressure operational environments
- Previous experience in critical facilities, data centres, broadcasting, or healthcare environments would be advantageous
