SEMH Teaching Assistants
Aspire Education is a leading agency dedicated to placing skilled and compassionate Teaching Assistants in schools that support children with SEMH needs. We are working closely with several long-standing SEMH schools in the Lichfield area and are currently looking for experienced Teaching Assistants to support primary and secondary-age pupils. These schools have a strong track record of providing a nurturing and structured environment that helps children overcome their emotional and behavioural challenges and reach their full potential.
The Role
As an Experienced Teaching Assistant in an SEMH setting, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will work closely with the class teacher to implement individualized learning plans and behaviour strategies, ensuring each student receives the support they need to succeed. Your role will include providing one-to-one or small group assistance, supporting students with their academic work, and helping them develop vital social and emotional skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them with their academic work, behaviour, and emotional regulation.
Assist the teacher in preparing and delivering lessons that meet the needs of students with SEMH.
Implement behaviour management techniques and support emotional development within the classroom.
Monitor students'' progress and provide feedback to teachers, helping track individual learning goals.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment where students feel valued and encouraged.
Collaborate with other teaching assistants, teachers, and specialists to provide tailored interventions for students.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
Experience in a school setting, ideally with students who have SEMH or other additional needs.
Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification are highly desirable, but not essential.
Understanding of SEMH needs and strategies for supporting students with emotional, social, and behavioural challenges.
Classroom support experience, including assisting with lesson delivery and managing student behaviour.
Excellent communication skills to effectively work with students, teachers, and other professionals.
A flexible, patient, and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable children, helping them to build confidence and develop positive learning habits.
