Housing Advice/ Prevention/Homelessness Assessment Officer

About the Role:
One of my local goverment clients-is seeking an experienced and proactive Housing Advice / Homelessness Assessment Officer to join its Housing Options Service. This is a fast-paced and challenging role, ideal for professionals who thrive under pressure and are committed to preventing homelessness and supporting vulnerable residents.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver frontline housing advice and homelessness prevention services.

Complete comprehensive housing assessments under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

Undertake prevention and relief casework, with a focus on sustainable housing solutions.

Manage a varied caseload effectively, meeting statutory deadlines.

Carry out detailed homelessness enquiries and issue Section 184 decision letters.

Contribute to the Housing Options Duty Service as part of a rota.
Essential Requirements:

Strong working knowledge of homelessness legislation, including the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act.

Proven experience working in a Housing Options or Homelessness Prevention role within a local authority setting.

Competence in completing assessments, managing cases, and issuing legal decisions.

Ability to manage competing priorities in a high-demand environment.

Excellent communication, report writing, and IT skills.

A commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes for vulnerable residents.
