Senior Pharmacy Technician - Clinical Services

OverviewOur Senior Pharmacy technician team support medicines optimisation across the Trust in critical care, the emergency department and inpatient wards. As a tertiary centre, our specialist wards include respiratory, cardiology, neurology, transplant, haematology, oncology, maternity and paediatrics. We are looking for an enthusiastic Pharmacy technician to join our Trauma and Orthopaedic team, to support the division in the delivery of our Medicines Optimisation strategy within the area. This leadership role provides the opportunity for experienced Pharmacy technicians to put their existing skills into practice, working with innovative technology and systems, whilst also continuing to build further skills to enable future career progression. You will participate in the medicines reconciliation process, supply of medication during inpatient stay, support effective and timely discharge and patient counselling. You will also support the development of rotational staff working within your area and support with quality improvement.
Responsibilities
Participate in the medicines reconciliation process.
Supply medication during inpatient stay and support effective and timely discharge.
Provide patient counselling on medicines.
Support the development of rotational staff within the area and participate in quality improvement activities.
Contribute to the delivery of the departmental medicines management strategy via provision of technical ward-based pharmacy services.
Provide training for all pharmacy staff on technical medicines management, including medicines reconciliation, and act as an Educational Supervisor for Pharmacy technicians in the clinical services team.
Participate in day-to-day management of clinical staff and support patient flow; undertake clinical audit and service evaluations; contribute to service planning and development.
Support strategic and operational planning of technical ward-based services in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
Deliver training and leadership opportunities, including national accreditations in Medicines Reconciliation, Medicines Management and Accuracy Checking, with further leadership training available.
Qualifications and Skills
Highly motivated registered Pharmacy Technicians with excellent organisational and training skills.
Ability to work under pressure while ensuring accuracy in all aspects of technical pharmacy.
Experience in leading or supporting clinical pharmacy services and staff development.
