Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 + Benefits

Company Overview

We are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join a specialist consultancy delivering commercial and project support services across the UK water and utilities sector. The business works closely with major water companies and delivery partners on long-term infrastructure frameworks and capital investment programmes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with a strong civil engineering background to transition into the thriving water sector, one of the UK''s fastest-growing infrastructure markets. With billions of pounds being invested across AMP8 and beyond, there has never been a better time to establish yourself within the industry.

Working within a consultancy environment, you''ll gain exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects, clients and delivery partners, developing a broader commercial skillset than is typically available within a single contractor business. The company offers flexible hybrid working, strong professional development support and genuine opportunities for long-term career progression.

No previous water sector experience is required. Applications are welcomed from Quantity Surveyors with strong civil engineering and NEC contract experience who are looking to broaden their experience and develop within a growing sector.

The Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in delivering key frameworks and infrastructure projects across the North and Midlands of England. This position offers the opportunity to work across a range of infrastructure projects while developing valuable consultancy and client-side experience within a highly respected organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Senior Quantity Surveyors in managing projects from inception to completion

• Act as a key point of contact for clients, building strong and professional relationships

• Manage infrastructure projects using NEC3 and NEC4 contracts

• Undertake estimating and cost planning activities

• Provide procurement advice and support tender documentation preparation

• Carry out contract administration and cost control duties

• Prepare and manage cost reports and forecasts

• Assist with final account preparation and agreement

• Attend client meetings and undertake site visits as required

• Lead or support multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring commercial objectives are achieved

Key Requirements

• Experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities or construction projects

• Strong working knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts

• Post-contract commercial management experience

• Strong project cost management, organisational and analytical skills

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple projects

• Willingness to travel to client offices and sites across the North and Midlands as required

Why Apply?

• Opportunity to enter the UK water sector during a period of unprecedented investment and growth

• Exposure to major infrastructure and capital delivery programmes

• Consultancy environment offering wider project and client exposure

• Flexible hybrid working arrangement

• Strong professional development and career progression opportunities

• Supportive and collaborative team environment

• Long-term career stability within a growing sector

Desirable

• Experience within the water or wider utilities sector

• Pre-contract and tender documentation experience

• Working towards or holding MRICS, MCICES, or a similar professional qualification
