Part 2 Architectural Assistant or an Architectural TechnologistWe are an established London-based practice, with a growing portfolio of work across a diverse range of sectors, with a team of hands-on Partners, skilled Architects and Architectural Technologists.We are seeking a Part 2 Architectural Assistant (some UK work experience desirable) or an Architectural Technologist. Applicants should ideally be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to demonstrate excellent communication and drafting skills.The ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines set by project leads is a key skill.You will be supporting the team on projects across a variety of sectors including cultural buildings, places of worship, residential, commercial and retail. Many buildings are listed, including some heritage-at-risk sites. Therefore, experience or a keen interest in conservation and historical buildings would be advantageous.This role requires taking responsibility for projects from start to finish, including preparing drawings and specifications, working collaboratively with a Partner or Project Architect. For some projects, you will be required to liaise directly with clients, consultants and contractors; on others, you will work collaboratively in an in-house team.Role and ResponsibilitiesWorking on numerous projects from inception to completion RIBA stages 0-7Preparing designs and submission for planning approval, listed building consentEnsuring CDM and Building Safety requirements are satisfied PPreparing detailed designs, working drawings and specifications;Overseeing projects on site including site inspectionsUp-to-date knowledge of the latest statutory building regulationsEnsure the running of the project is kept within the financial goal and deadlinesWorking alone and within small teams as projects requirePositive and team playing, with a flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working and collaboratingProactiveness and self-motivation, with the ability to take initiative in response to direction from Project Architects and PartnersStrong organisational skills to manage a varied design or technical workloadReporting to the Partners/Project Architects on project progressSome projects are outside of London and will require travel.Required Skills and Experience for an Architectural AssistantPart II Qualified, some UK work experience is desirableSome understanding of working on historic buildings, interest in conservationExperience of working through a variety of RIBA stagesAble to demonstrate a practical approach and some experience of construction detailingKnowledge of UK Building RegulationsGood working knowledge of Vectorworks would be advantageousApplicant must be based in the UK and be able to show evidence of eligibility to work in the UKA driving license is advantageousRequired Skills and Experience for an Architectural TechnologistThe primary aim is to support projects by developing projects from concept through to technical design and specification and liaising with other in-house design team members.The successful candidate will have:A CIAT qualification, or a university degree in Architectural Technology or equivalentA minimum of 3 years’ UK work experience in a building design capacity, including extensive experience of production information on residential projectsAn interest in conservation and experience of working on historic buildingsA good working knowledge of current construction techniques, Building Regulations etc.Vectorworks proficiency would be advantageousOur office islocated very close to Highbury and Islington tube station. We are a family-friendly practice and are fully equipped for remote working.
