New leadership position, reporting to Market Access Director
Aligned with Neuroscience therapeutic area
ObjectivesThe Therapeutic Area (TA) Head of Access will provide leadership to the head office payer marketing team and infield market access team, as relevant to the TA, setting clear vision, expectations and driving high performance and a positive culture across the whole team. They will lead the team to build and execute on impactful market access strategies to support delivery of Business Unit objectives. They will work closely with other cross-functional leaders to align on strategy, resourcing, and delivery, and be a key member of the Market Access Leadership Team and cross-functional Business Unit leadership team.
The TA Head of Access will report into the UK Market Access Director.
Key Responsibilities
Core member of Business Unit leadership team, contributing to definition of overall brand strategy, and subsequent definition of aligned market access functional objectives, capitalising on prioritised market access opportunities and mitigating relevant challenges
Lead the payer marketing team to develop robust market access strategies for in-market and launch assets, to deliver the Business Unit functional objectives and to drive optimal access and uptake of our medicines
Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with Commercial, Medical, Regulatory, HTA, Pricing, and all other relevant cross-functional partners, including Europe and International colleagues
Partner with other TA Heads of Access to share best practice, align on synergies across TAs, and raise the bar on overall performance
As relevant to the TA, partner with cross-functional leadership team to ensure exemplary in-field cross-functional (access-sales-medical) ways of working to drive high-impact outcomes
Work with the team and cross-functional partners to set clear objectives and high-quality implementation plans for all strategies
Monitor performance metrics and progress towards objectives, driving exceptional delivery and making course corrections as needed
Agree resourcing requirements on an annual basis and ongoing as required, working with Business Unit and Market Access leadership
Lead team to foster effective external engagement with payer customers through all relevant channels and programmes
Ensure effective management of assigned budgets and external vendors
Lead team to maintain awareness of competitor activities and policy changes impacting TA, taking appropriate action as needed
Provide input on early pipeline assets in assigned TA as required
Develop clear ways of working and a positive culture within the team, ensuring plans in place to address key areas of focus, aligned to broader Market Access and Affiliate plans
Drive strong strategic alignment between head office payer marketing and infield market access teams to ensure highly impactful, consistent execution of defined strategies and tactics
Support training and capability building within the team for ongoing development and to address business needs
Support development of talent within the Market Access function, and establish succession pipeline for key positions
Active member of the Market Access Leadership Team and Business Unit leadership team, taking responsibility for broader initiatives as required
Act as point of contact for Europe and International Market Access leadership in assigned TA, for in-market and launch assets
Qualifications
Degree in Life Sciences, Business, Marketing, or other relevant area
Master’s in Health Economics, Business or other relevant area
Extensive leadership experience within the pharmaceutical sector or related area
Skilled in developing strategy and successful implementation
Strong ability to operate in a matrix environment
Track record of building high-performing teams
Demonstrable ability to influence upwards and work effectively with senior leadership
Excellent analytical skills and financial acumen
Deep knowledge of the UK NHS environment, reimbursement processes, and payer stakeholders
Direct experience of HTA and understanding of the principles of cost-effectiveness analysis
ABPI Code of Practice knowledge
