Overview

The Discharge Unit at Barnsley Hospital helps facilitate approximately 850 discharges per month. We have 6 bedded cubicles and can sit up to a further 20 patients. We continue all aspects of patient care whilst they await medication and transport home. The Discharge Unit has recently become a 24/7 Unit to help ease bed pressures. We now have patients who stay overnight with a predicted date of discharge the following day. We play a key role in patient flow, working at a fast pace whilst ensuring all patients have a safe and efficient discharge back into the community.Working pattern

12.5 hour shifts, 7 days a week including Bank Holidays. Covering hours 08:00–20:30.Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated band 2 CSW with excellent communication skills. You will be part of a team aiming for an efficient, safe discharge of patients back into the community.Responsibilities

Care for in-patients on the Unit and assist band 5 and band 3 colleagues in providing high-quality care whilst awaiting discharge.Collect medically fit patients from the wards and escort them to the Discharge Unit to await medications and transport home.Care for these patients on the Unit and remain flexible within the working day.Qualifications/qualities

Enthusiastic, motivated, with good communication skills.Willingness to learn and adapt; able to work in a fast-paced discharge environment.Organisation information
