Role: Multi Skilled Production Engineer - MCB manufacturing
Full time, 3 month fixed term contract initially - immediate start
39 hour week Monday to Friday 7.25 a.m. start

Salary : £40-45K pro rata
Purpose Of Role
To support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of a semi-automated production line manufacturing Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs).
Responsible for ensuring the production line operates safely, efficiently, and reliably, responding quickly to equipment faults and supporting production to minimise downtime. The role will involve hands-on fault-finding and maintenance across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled systems.
This is a hands-on engineering position working directly with production equipment, diagnosing faults, implementing effective solutions, and improving equipment reliability and process performance.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential
Previous experience in a production engineering, maintenance engineering, or manufacturing engineering role.
- Strong practical fault-finding skills across electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery and the ability to use PLC diagnostics for fault-finding.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and pneumatic diagrams.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting automated or semi-automated production equipment.
- Good understanding of industrial sensors, actuators, motors, solenoid valves, relays, contactors, and safety circuits.
- Ability to diagnose faults logically and systematically under production pressure.
- A proactive approach to preventative maintenance and equipment reliability.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production operators and other engineering personnel.
Desirable
- Experience within an electrical/electronic manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience manufacturing MCBs, circuit protection devices, switchgear, or other electrical products.
- Experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Omron, or similar.
- Experience with HMI systems and industrial automation.
- Knowledge of servo drives, variable-speed drives, or motion-control systems.
- Experience with pneumatic control and automated assembly systems.
- Experience with root-cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Electrical or mechanical engineering qualification, apprenticeship, HNC/HND, NVQ, or equivalent practical experience.
- PAD printing (although training will be given)
