What Could You Be Doing?

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll help pupils get the most from their time in school by providing practical, educational and pastoral support.

Depending on the role, your responsibilities could include:

• Supporting the class teacher with lessons and activities
• Working with individual pupils or small groups
• Providing 1:1 classroom and learning support
• Helping pupils stay focused and engaged
• Encouraging positive behaviour and classroom routines
• Supporting pupils to develop confidence and independence
• Helping pupils with additional learning needs
• Providing pastoral and practical support
• Helping create a positive, inclusive and welcoming classroom environment

Every school and pupil is different, so your day-to-day responsibilities will depend on the placement.
