Overview

We are recruiting for a

Head of Finance Operations

to lead Edyn’s Finance Operations team. This team of around 25 covers Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit Control, Systems Administration, and Process Improvement, ensuring the smooth delivery of transactional finance across the group. These teams are fundamental to supporting business performance, and the jobholder will act as the primary figurehead and point of escalation for the business.The role will support the business in optimising technology to streamline and simplify processes. Edyn is a fast-paced and energised company, and we are seeking someone who combines strong technical expertise with excellent interpersonal skills and the drive to unlock both their own potential and that of the company.As part of a wider Finance team of over 60 people, the successful candidate will be a passionate and positive financial practitioner who makes a difference by contributing to continuous improvement. They will demonstrate structured ways of working that challenge current practices, with a strong grasp of financial principles and a proven track record of supporting change. Attention to detail is essential.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Lead a 25-person Finance Operations team, setting culture, leadership, and vision; enabling effective communication; supporting talent management and development; and ensuring high performance.

Oversee full transactional ledger ownership, reviewing and approving month-end tasks completed by the teams (bank reconciliations, journal sign-offs, and period-end close), and approving business transactions in line with approval limits.

Establish and maintain a transactional control environment plan, underpinned by clear process documentation. Evaluate processes for efficiency and automation opportunities.

Act as the business lead and figurehead for Finance Operations. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing expertise and representation on business-wide projects and change programmes. Apply sound judgement to meet business needs.

Act as subject matter expert and escalation point for transactional finance, conducting root cause analysis and resolving recurring issues through data analysis and reconciliations.

Support risk management by setting and enforcing policy in key areas such as purchasing, expenses, and credit control, ensuring staff are adequately trained to succeed in their roles.

Establish optimised jurisdictional practices to ensure compliance with local requirements while enabling business success.

Oversee the appropriate utilisation and operation of finance systems.

Knowledge And Skills Required

Strong experience managing day-to-day transactional finance operations.

Data-driven approach to problem solving.

Strong business acumen and analytical skills.

Ability to work autonomously and adapt to multiple tasks and deadlines.

Excellent attention to detail with an organised, logical approach.

Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships to ensure successful delivery of processes.

Hands-on attitude with a willingness to “roll up sleeves” to solve problems.

Experience And Qualifications

Proficiency in MS Office, with advanced Excel skills.

Demonstrable examples of problem solving, including delivering system improvements.

Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proven success managing external stakeholder relationships.

Understanding of VAT (or equivalent) principles.

Experience working with multi-jurisdictional entities.

Preferable but Not Essential

Knowledge of Oracle NetSuite.

Experience within travel or hospitality sectors.

Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
