Senior Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering a diverse portfolio of major projects across Scotland.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Senior Quantity Surveyor to take responsibility for the financial and contractual management of significant civil engineering projects, working closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities- Take commercial responsibility for projects from pre-construction through to final account.
- Manage project budgets, costs, forecasting, valuations and cash flow.
- Prepare and submit applications for payment, variations and final accounts.
- Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, accounts and commercial performance.
- Identify and maximise commercial opportunities while managing financial risk.
- Prepare monthly CVRs and provide accurate commercial reporting to senior management.
- Manage contractual correspondence, notices, changes and extensions of time.
- Review and negotiate subcontract and supplier agreements.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and operational teams to ensure projects are delivered commercially and effectively.
- Monitor project performance against budgets and forecasts.
- Assist with dispute resolution and contractual negotiations where required.
- Mentor and support junior Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Proven experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, infrastructure or construction.
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.
- Experience managing projects from pre-construction through to final account.
- Strong understanding of NEC and/or other major forms of construction contract.
- Excellent cost control, forecasting and financial reporting skills.
- Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider commercial team.
- Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline is desirable.
- Professional membership such as RICS is advantageous but not essential.
