Principal Civil Engineer

First People Solutions is currently working with a multidisciplinary consulting engineer that is looking to strengthen its team with an experienced Principal Civil Engineer.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer who is looking to take a leading role on major projects, provide technical direction and lead project teams across a variety of sectors.

The Role

As a Principal Engineer, you''ll be responsible for leading larger civil engineering project teams or overseeing multiple smaller teams, ensuring projects are delivered to the required cost, programme and quality standards.

You''ll have the opportunity to work on major projects across a range of sectors including Nuclear, Defence, Rail, Highways, Life Sciences and the Public Sector, working alongside multidisciplinary teams on technically challenging projects.

The role will involve:

• Leading and managing civil engineering project teams
• Providing technical direction and ensuring designs meet the required standards
• Working across a broad range of civil engineering disciplines including earthworks, drainage, highways and external works
• Ensuring compliance with CDM, health & safety and internal quality procedures
• Working closely with clients, project managers and other disciplines to ensure successful project delivery
• Supporting business improvements and implementing changes across projects

What Are They Looking For?

• Chartered Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• Strong, well-rounded civil engineering experience
• Good knowledge of current civil design codes and standards
• Experience leading projects and design teams
• Experience across areas such as drainage, earthworks, highways, external works, foundations and site development
• A proven track record of delivering projects successfully and maintaining strong client relationships
• Experience working within technical assurance and quality processes
• Strong communication and leadership skills
