Good Afternoon,

I am currently representing Wokingham Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience

We are looking for a Specialist Building Surveyor (Repairs) this role will be: RG401WH

The right candidate will:

  • Responsive repairs surveying will require diagnosing faults & repairs required to domestic properties and communal areas of grouped properties, through home visits involving inspection & conversing with tenants to identify the problem and the impact it is having.
  • A schedule of works will be required to be produced in a timely manner for issue to the responsive maintenance contractor or other specialist contractors.
  • The progress of the repair will be monitored &, upon completion, a sample of completed works will be inspected to ensure the quality of the works & the satisfaction of the tenant.
  • Liaison with the tenant during the course of the works may be required. Planned Maintenance works will include delivery of the Investment Delivery Programme which will involve interpreting specific works programmes, undertaking surveys of individual properties, sites and facilities identified to establish the precise works requirements, liaison with tenants and other residents and coordinating the work of contractors such as asbestos contractors, grounds maintenance contractors and other specialist contractors.
  • Capital works surveying will entail broad contract management including working with the Procurement and Contracts Manager in the procurement of contracts; the letting of contracts & the management of the works including H&S; monitoring of key performance indicators; managing variation requests; authorising payment requests and negotiation with contractors over performance, payments & other issues that may arise during the course of the works.

We require the following:

  • You will possess an excellent level of knowledge of building construction standards & legislation, construction H&S, project management & an ability to diagnose & specify remedies to building defects, particularly relating to Fire Safety.
  • You will have a professional understanding of passive fire safety measures & methods of ensuring their effectiveness, combined with an ability & presence to be proactive and work on own initiative, with limited supervision, & be able to manage contractors delivering building works at project level including H&S, quality, value & progress with excellent organisational skills.
