Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm
Start date: ASAP
Length of contract : 3months
Reason for Role : The project is beginning the process of decommissioning. This role is required to support residents through this period and to assist with intensive housing management and move-on activity.
Service Description
This project provides accommodation and support to single homeless adults, male and female, aged 18–65, with low to medium support needs. The service specialises in intensive housing management and practical support to sustain accommodation and plan positive move-on.
Role Purpose
The Housing and Support Worker will play a key role in supporting the decommissioning of the service by working closely with residents to secure appropriate move-on accommodation, manage housing related matters and provide practical support.
The postholder will balance housing management responsibilities with support work, ensuring residents are appropriately guided through transitions while maintaining the safety and effectiveness of the service during the decommissioning period.
Person Specification
Must Have
- Full UK driving licence
- Access to and ability to drive own vehicle
- Enhanced DBS Adult and Children
- Experience of working in housing, homelessness or support services
- Understanding of housing management and tenancy sustainment
- Ability to support vulnerable adults in a professional and empathetic manner
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Key Responsibilities
Housing Management
- Support the decommissioning process by assisting residents with planned move-on from the service
- Liaise with local authorities, housing providers and external agencies to source appropriate accommodation
- Support residents to complete housing applications and attend appointments
- Monitor rent accounts and address arrears where required
- Ensure properties are maintained to required standards during decommissioning
- Support compliance with licence agreements and house rules
Support Work
- Provide practical, person-centred support to residents with low to medium support needs
- Support residents to develop daily living and tenancy sustainment skills
- Carry out key work sessions and maintain accurate case notes
- Signpost residents to relevant internal and external services
- Promote independence and positive outcomes
Health, Safety and Safeguarding
- Maintain a safe environment for residents and staff
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns in line with policy
- Complete risk assessments and follow support plans
- Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies
Administration and Communication
- Maintain accurate and up to date records
- Attend team meetings and contribute to reviews
- Work collaboratively with Riverside staff, agency colleagues and partner organisations
