AtkinsRéalis Building Design Practice is looking to appoint a Fire Engineer who will develop their career within a forward-thinking, multi-sector practice. This role involves working as part of a national practice delivering fire engineering design solutions across sectors including Cities and Development, Commercial, Energy, Residential and Transportation.

There is flexibility around where the role is based; while the majority of our Fire Engineering team are based in Derby and London, we aim to grow teams in the North and Southwest. Preferred UK locations: Bristol, Epsom, Glasgow, London or Derby.

Responsibilities

Take responsibility for own projects and collaborate with other senior team members to develop the team and strengthen technical capability.

Work across sectors from residential buildings through rail transportation or new energy facilities.

Manage multiple engineering projects from inception through delivery in support of fire safety standards and codes.

Support delivery of project work within time and cost budgets.

Keep up to date with regulations and legislation.

Develop fire engineering solutions on projects and ensure the fire engineering strategy is delivered.

Assess fire-related risks and collaborate to mitigate where possible.

Develop and support junior engineers.

Review and comment on the quality of fire safety-related installations.

Undertake tenders for new work and develop client relationships with existing clients.

Lead medium-sized projects day-to-day.

Prepare and review reports; lead fire engineering workshops.

What you can bring

Engineering degree, preferably fire engineering, or a postgraduate qualification in fire engineering (candidates with different backgrounds will also be considered).

Demonstrated track record of delivering fire safety projects; experience in other sectors also considered. 6+ years of relevant experience.

Experience with fire standards such as BS9999, NFPA 130, BS9992, EN45545 (beneficial).

Fire modelling experience is beneficial; experience outside the building sector would be advantageous.

Ability to obtain security clearance, ideally without caveats, would be highly beneficial.

Associate membership of the IFE, working toward full membership.

A flexible approach to the working environment and working toward Chartership.

Willingness to travel is a positive advantage.

Good commercial awareness and customer focus.

Ability to collate information and maintain a clear, structured approach to report writing.
